Sometimes sleeping rough can be downright scary. Like after your house is destroyed by earthquake, or a giant wall of water takes out your entire town. It’s times like these that makes the comfort and security of a tent seem like a gift from heaven. At ShelterBox, Founder Tom Henderson saw that aid response to most disasters came in the form of food and medicine to help people survive the immediate aftermath; but little or no assistance was given in terms of proper shelter. To fill this void, Tom launched ShelterBox back in 2000 to send tents and self-sufficiency supplies to victims of natural and man-made disasters. Operating on donations from around the world, ShelterBox delivers aid as quickly as possible to people who need it the most. Each ShelterBox costs $725 (USD), and the group gratefully accepts online donations for the full or partial cost of a box.
