Relax in Cowhide Butterfly Chair Comfort
The Hardoy Butterfly chair has been wowing modernistas since its debut at the 3rd Salon de Artistas Decoradores interior design exhibition in Buenos Aires in 1940. Designed in 1938 by Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy, the Butterfly chair was first introduced to the U.S. market by Knoll, Inc. in 1947 - to great acclaim. The chair was so popular in fact, that Knoll found itself taking legal action against several firms making inferior illegal copies. In 1951, after losing their claim of copyright infringement, Knoll dropped the Butterfly chair from production. Knoll estimated that more than 5 million copies were produced by other manufacturers during the 1950's alone. The enduring success of Ferrari-Hardoy’s design continues unabated today. As an update to the leather seat construction of the original, Circa50 now offers the Butterfly chair in a variety of hand-select hair and smooth-finish cowhides. These handsome variants are perfect for the modern cowboy lifestyle. Chair frames with cowhide cover start at $425.
