Local Motors has one simple goal: to build the first-ever, open-source vehicle design company. Incorporated at the end of 2007 by owner Jay Rogers, Local Motors works with a cadre of online collaborators to design custom-built vehicles like the Rally Fighter. Built in the company's micro factory in Phoenix, AZ, the Rally Fighter takes about two weeks to complete. Owners take a major role in the build process.
